Barricade Following Officer Involved Shooting in Oxnard

Police said that the suspect had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.

A struggle between a police officer and a male suspect led to a shot being fired and the suspect running away and barricading himself in his home Sunday night, according to Oxnard Police.

Police evacuated residents living near the trailer where the barricade situation was on going on the 1300 block of Ventura Boulevard. The suspect eventually surrendered shortly after 11 p.m.

The suspect, believed to be in his 30s, was taken to a local trauma center. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

Police said that the suspect had outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants, though it was not immediately clear what led to the struggle and barricade.

In addition to the suspect, one officer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He was not struck by gunfire.
