Officer Involved in Boyle Heights Shooting

Officers responded to a report of shots fired Friday in Boyle Heights.

An officer was involved in the shooting of an armed suspect early Friday in the Boyle Heights area.

The suspect was shot and killed in the 2500 block of Houston street, according to police. Authorities confirmed no officers were injured.

"They encountered a suspect armed with a rifle, and the suspect was  shot and killed,'' said Commander Andrew Smith.'

The officers responded to the location after a call of shots fired at about 5:50 a.m. Officers were investigating behind a shed in the area at about 7 a.m.
