Officer's Gun Fired at Garden Grove Convenience Store Robbery: Police

Police arrested a 23-year-old man Sunday in an incident involving an officer-involved shooting in Garden Grove, where no one was injured, officers said.

Officers dispatched at 1:35 a.m. to a robbery in progress at a 7-Eleven, 12752 Brookhurst St., arrived to find a man armed with a handgun, Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue said.

When the police arrived, an officer-involved shooting immediately occurred, officials said. The suspect then fled on foot and was located nearby. A loaded handgun was also recovered.

Steven Joshua Loia was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon on an officer and for being a felon in possession of a handgun, the police lieutenant said.

There was no other immediate information.
