“Triple Threat Bandit” Nabbed in Car Chase: FBI

The pursuit began Thursday afternoon in the Fullerton area

The so-called "Triple Threat Bandit" was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after a pursuit that began in Fullerton before continuing on both sides of the 105 Freeway, according to the FBI.

Officers pursued the robbery suspect, who was driving a sport-utility vehicle, for about one hour. Officers moved in after the driver exited the westbound 105 Freeway, stopped at an intersection and surrendered.

The suspect allegedly robbed three Orange County banks on the morning of Aug. 19, earning him the "Triple Threat Bandit" moniker, according to the FBI.

  • Union Yes Federal Credit Union 1918 West Chapman Ave. in Orange (10:15 a.m.)
  • U.S. Bank 5470 Beach Blvd. in Buena Park (approximately 11 a.m.)

At least 10 California Highway Patrol units were involved in Thursday's pursuit, which began about 1:30 p.m. in the Fullerton area. The pursuit continued into LA County on the eastbound 105 Freeway before the subject exited and looped around to the westbound 105 Freeway.
