Snapchat Video Captures Officer Shooting Woman Accused in Santa Ana Stabbing

Snapchat video captured a Santa Ana police officer opening fire on a woman accused of stabbing at least two victims in an attempted carjacking Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to the 3300 block of West 5th Street just before 8 p.m. A woman in her 20s was accused of trying to carjack a man sitting in his Mercedes in a retail business area at Newhope and 5th Street.

The woman allegedly cut the man, and took the keys, but not the car, Santa Ana police at the scene said. Officers said the weapon was a large butcher knife.

Two other men at the car wash tried to intervene and apparently were injured by the knife.

She fled on a bike, police said, before an officer arrived and tried to make contact with her. The officer opened fire as the woman tried to flee, the witness' Snapchat video showed.

She was taken to the hospital. The suspect was later identified as 27-year-old Alma Ramirez, arrested on suspicion of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.

Her injuries are non-life threatening, according to police.

No officers were injured.
