County workers place K-rails to help divert flood waters around homes at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, which were scorched and denuded by the 250-square-mile Station fire, as the West Coast's first major October storm in more than 45 years approaches on October 13, 2009 in La Canada Flintridge, California.

An approaching storm is making travel tough for people living near the Station Fire burn region. All county roads in the area will be closed to the public as of 11:59 p.m. tonight.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works closures will affect the Angeles Forest (N3) Highway, Big Tujunga Canyon Road and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, according to a Public Works statement.

The roads will re-open after the storm system -- the second to hit the region late this week -- has passed, and debris and damage inspections have been completed, according to Public Works.

Angeles Crest Highway remained open early today, though road crews were putting down salt or cinders on some ice-prone areas at higher elevations, said California Highway Patrol Officer Anthony Martin.
