The driver of a luxury vehicle was traveling at speeds up to 100 miles per hour when she crashed into a parked vehicle in Koreatown early Sunday. Reggie Kumar reports live for Today in LA on Sunday, March 23, 2014.

One person was killed when a speeding Mercedes-Benz slammed into a parked vehicle in Koreatown early Sunday, officials said.

Officers responded around 5:30 a.m. to the crash near Western Avenue and 7th Street.

Police said the luxury SUV was traveling up to speeds near 100 miles per hour. A female driver was killed in the crash.

Alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash, and authorities were investigating whether the driver was racing another vehicle at the time of the collision.

Los Angeles police requested traffic be closed at Western Avenue on the 10 Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. Traffic in the area was expected to be closed until 8:30 a.m.

A hit-and-run left another person dead near the Western Avenue offramp at the 10 Freeway, police said. It was unclear if the two incidents were related.
