A double shooting Friday at a barbecue stand outside an auto parts store in Harbor City left a woman dead and a man wounded.
The gunfire erupted about 1:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of the Pacific Coast Highway, in the parking lot of a Pep Boys store, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Jennifer Ann Dickerson, 31, later died at the hospital after she was shot by an unidentified gunman while she was serving barbecue for Wheaton's Eatins stand, where she worked for about a year.
"He didn't seem to be aiming at one particular person, but just shooting towards the pop-up tents where the barbecue was and where there were customers were gathered," LAPD Detective David Cortez said.
The gunman, who witnesses said had a bandana or mask covering his face, chased the male victim and shot him in the arm before fleeing the scene.
The victims were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where the woman died and the man was in stable condition, according to Officer Jane Kim of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.
Valarie Hollyfield, Dickerson's mother, said Dickerson was her second child who died because of gun violence.

"She didn't deserve none of this," Hollyfield said. "This is a second time I have to bury a kid to street gun violence, and I don't know why."
Dickerson's family said she was an aspiring rapper who worked three jobs to support her music career.
"She's sitting out here doing a job, being the person she is, just working," said Leroy Hess, Dickerson's uncle and godfather.
Kim said it's unknown if the suspect knew either victim.
Police were checking to see if the shooting was caught on surveillance video.
