One Killed, Three Critically Injured in Boyle Heights Car Crash

One man was killed and three people were critically injured Wednesday night after a traffic collision in Boyle Heights, police said.

The crash was reported around 10:05 p.m. at the intersection of East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and North Mission Road, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

One man died inside his car at the scene and three other people were transported to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the man who died was traveling south on North Mission Road at a high rate of speed
and then made a left-hand turn in front of another driver who was traveling north on North Mission Road, according the LAPD.

The force of the crash sent the second car sliding across the road, police said.

The driver who died crashed into a telephone pole and was partially ejected from his car, police said.

The name of the deceased driver was not released pending notification of his family.
