Man Shot in Front of Family Outside Laser Tag Center in Glendale

A man shot outside a family Laser Tag Center in Glendale in what police are calling an attempted robbery is recovering Sunday, while the shooter is still on the loose.

The shooting occurred just before closing time in the parking lot at The Zone Laser Tag Center on Saturday night. Police say witnesses told them men wearing masks tried to rob a man and his family.

That man was shot in the struggle, and the robbers got away.

"Playing with the people's life with the guns, with the kids," Roobick, an employee, said. "It's sad. It's sad."

Roobick says he was working at the laser tag center when he heard gunshots ring out in the parking lot, and he locked the doors.

He says a group of 8 people, including kids with family visiting from Armenia were ambushed in the parking lot.

"There were more than 4 people," the employee says. "They were masked people. They had gloves. And they had a car, which didn't have any license plate."

Roobick says one of the men visiting from Armenia was shot in front of his family.

Glendale Police say it was an attempted robbery. The victim was shot in the torso, and the attackers escaped.

Employees said the victims were shopping near the Glendale Galleria before playing laser tag, and they believe they were targeted.

"It couldn't be coincidence that the same time they are trying to leave, these people, they park," the employee at the laser tag center says.

The victim was transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and is listed in stable condition, while the search continues to find the people responsible before they have a chance to strike again.

Glendale police say they are canvassing the area, looking for any surveillance video that may help them track down the shooter and robbers.

The employees at the laser tag say the family that was attacked was planning to go back home to Armenia Sunday and, instead, had to postpone its return.
