Opening: Adopt & Shop Culver City

It's "retail meets philanthropy" at the new art-nice dogly destination.

The beautiful thing about a pet adoption is it can pop up literally anywhere, if there's a volunteer to run it, a dog or two, and an enclosure where the pup may chillax and have his own space as potential new family members admire him.

Of course, placing those pups in a retail space purveying in pooch-focused goods is an excellent pathway to pairing people with new furry friends. And the LA's own Michelson Found Animals will do just that when its new Adopt & Shop space opens in Culver City on Tuesday, May 13.

Called "LA's largest nonprofit humane pet adoption and retail center," Adopt & Shop will place animals in homes while "donating proceeds back to shelters around the U.S."

And,  yep, the retail element will be right there, meaning you can stock up on a leash, harness, food, and toys, all while your chosen cutie is prepped to go home with you.

As for the large-scale murals found at the Sepulveda Boulevard center? Artist David Flores the animal-inspirational works. Yes indeed, he's the muralist who painted huge robots around San Francisco as well as a host of vinyl toys and togs.

It's a big deal, for sure, to have the lauded artist lending some art-sweet love to the hounds and their cause. "Fido meets LACMA" is what one representative calls it, and we can go with that. Call a visit to Adopt & Shop a fine way to meet a new muttly of your own, pick ups some kibble, and gaze upon some Flores artworks, all about animal love.
