A brush fire in unincorporated Orange County had consumed 25 acres on Thursday afternoon.

The blaze was burning near the intersection of Santiago Canyon Road and the 241 toll road (map), according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Mark Stone.

The incident, dubbed the Santiago Canyon Fire, was burning uphill in light-to-medium fuel, he said.

The area, near Irvine Lake, is undeveloped. Smoke from the fire appeared to be spreading west toward Tustin and the city of Orange.
