A woman whose car tumbled down an embankment off the 241 Toll Road Thursday was taken by helicopter to an area hospital.
Authorities spent nearly two hours trying to track down where the car ended up, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada.
Anaheim police initially took a call from the victim's husband at 8:47 a.m. saying she had been involved in a crash, but he wasn't sure where she was, Quesada said. He said in an interview with NBC4 that he told her to get off the phone and use her GPS so paramedics could find her.
Around 10:30 a.m., authorities found the car off the 241, just south of the 241 Toll Road, Quesada said.
"Her cellphone was pinging at the Santa Ana (5) and the (Laguna Canyon Road) 133," Quesada said. "By the time we got the call and started searching for her the cellphone died."
The woman was in stable condition Thursday evening.
"She appeared to be pretty scared, probably thinking to herself, 'how'd I get into this situation and how am I going to get out of this situation,'" said Capt. Todd Lockwood, of the Orange County Fire Authority.
