A 40-year-old bicyclist was nearly killed Wednesday evening at the intersection of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Archwood Street.

An outraged detective contacted NBCLA.com shortly after the incident asking for the public's help.

Det. Bill Bustos said they know the driver was possibly in a black sports utility vehicle-- possibly a Nissan Pathfinder.

Bustos said the driver knew what he or she did and sped off leaving the bicyclist in the middle of the road.
The name of the victim was not released and he was reportedly in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Anyone with any information about this hit and run should call Det. Bustos at (818) 644.8010.
