Lanes on 91 Freeway Reopen After Big Rig Overturns in Carson

The truck was carrying a 37,000-pound load of electronic parts that may have shifted and caused the driver to lose control.

All lanes on the eastbound Gardena (91) Freeway in Carson reopened just before 6:30 a.m. after four lanes were shut down for about four hours Tuesday morning due to an overturned big rig trailer.

The closure on 91 Freeway was near Main Street. The transition road from the northbound 110 Freeway to the eastbound 91 Freeway was also closed.

The big rig was traveling on the northbound 110 Freeway and was transitioning to the eastbound 91 Freeway around 2:30 a.m. when the 37,000-pound load of electronic parts in the truck may have shifted and caused the driver to lose control, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 46-year-old driver from Southern California suffered minor injuries.
