Los Angeles County firefighters battled an early morning blaze that broke out in a commercial building in Paramount, Calif., on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012.
More than 60 Los Angeles County firefighters battled an early Monday morning fire that burned through a commercial building in Paramount.
Firefighters were called out just before 8 a.m. Monday to a fire in a single-story concrete building in the 16200 block of South Orange Street. Smoke and flames were visible from the 91 Freeway.
There were no injuries, said L.A. County Fire Department spokesman Brian Riley.
The building housed a leather engraving company and a service that makes cardboard store displays, both that contained lots of fuel for fire such as paper, dyes and inks.
The fire was contained to about one-third of the 75-foot-by-300-foot building and was nearly extinguished after about an hour, Riley said. Damages were estimated at $6 million.
Crews remained on scene to douse hot spots.
The fire was possibly caused by electrical problems, but an investigation was underway.
