Four People, Including Firefighter, Injured in Crash

The crash happened after 11 p.m. Saturday at an intersection in Pasadena. Three people, including a firefighter, were injured

A Pasadena fire engine on an emergency run collided with a sedan driven by a teenage boy, injuring him, his passenger and two firefighters.

The crash at Craig Avenue and Corson Street occurred about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department said.

“Engine 32 was southbound on Craig Avenue going to a call -- code three, with red lights and siren -- when it was broadsided by the Chevy Malibu,” Derderian said.

The fire engine had stopped at the red traffic signal before its driver then drove into the intersection when it was struck by the Chevy going eastbound on Corson Street, fire officials said.

The young man driving the car and an adult passenger were taken to hospitals with what Derderian called moderate injuries.

Their names were withheld.

A firefighter in the cab of the fire engine also suffered unspecified “moderate injuries,” she said.
