Pasadena Supermarket Looking to Hire Hundreds Before December

Many positions in the upcoming supermarket do not require candidates to speak English and training will be offered.

If you’re searching for a job, you may want to pay attention because a supermarket chain announced that an upcoming store in Pasadena is looking to hire hundreds of employees.

Dozens of people arrived with resumes and filled applications in hopes of getting hired at the Jackie Robinson center in Pasadena. There, the Vallarta Supermarkets chain interviewed candidates to fill approximately 300 positions.

“No experience is necessary so long as you have the willingness to work and a positive attitude is what matters,” Karina Chips, a representative for the supermarket chain, said.

Among the numerous applicants were mothers who took the opportunity to try to enter the workforce again. One mother included Paty Acosta, who was ready with her hope and a filled application.

“I stopped working almost 10 years ago to be with my children,” she said. “I think it’s time to start working in the pastry shop.”

Many positions in the upcoming supermarket do not require candidates to speak English. Training will be offered for those who get hired.

“We have different departments like the taqueria, bakery, torilleria, butcher shop, everything groceries,” Chips said. She added that applicants with prior experience may qualify to receive more than the minimum wage that is being offered.

Those who are interested in applying are asked to go to the Jackie Robinson Center (1020 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Pasadena, CA 91103) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

November 21 will be the last day to apply for a position at Vallarta.
