Man Killed in Car Chase Crash

A man died early Sunday morning when the car he was in crashed into an electical pole and concrete wall while being chased by California Highway Patrol officers in Garden Grove.

Three others were hospitalized with injuries after the crash, including the driver, after the car was engulfed in flames.

The driver, Dagoberto Orepeza, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and evading a police officer.

At 1:33 a.m., a CHP sergeant tried to pull over the driver of a black Honda Accord that was speeding on the 5 Freeway near Garden Grove, according to Officer Olivera.

The driver did not stop, and continued heading north on the freeway. The Honda crashed into another car when it exited the freeway at Chapman Avenue, and still did not stop, and continued speeding on the surface street.

As it approached Gail Lane, the car crashed into a pole and the wall.

One male passenger was killed in the crash. Two other men and a woman were hospitalized.
