Job Fair: Pechanga Casino Seeking Hundreds of New Employees

The fair will be held in the casino's Grand Ballroom, beginning at 8 a.m. both Thursday and Friday.

More than 1,000 people are expected to line up for interviews Thursday and Friday at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, where hundreds of permanent positions need to be filled.

"We're making this job fair unique so we can entice the best applicants who are looking to get in with a best-in-class employer like Pechanga," said Janet Borland, the casino's acquisition manager. "The career fair will be open during times convenient for people who are already working, who have families, and other obligations ... We could (be) extending employment offers as early as next Monday."

The tribe is completing a $285 million resort expansion, and there's a need to fill 560 open positions to staff the new wings, which will double the size of the casino. The additional space will be open for business by December, according to resort spokeswoman Ciara Green.

She said both entry-level and supervisory positions are available at all levels of resort operations, including culinary, housekeeping, custodial, landscaping and reception. Entry-level positions pay $10.50 per hour, Green said.

"This announcement demonstrates Pechanga Resort & Casino's presence as a large-scale employer and an economic driver for the southwest region," said Carrie Harmon, deputy director of the Riverside County Workforce Development Center. "Most importantly, this job fair, which is one of the largest employer recruitments this year, will provide job opportunities for over 500 residents. That's a win for all of us."

The fair will be held in the casino's Grand Ballroom, beginning at 8 a.m. both Thursday and Friday.
