A man walking on a freeway in Compton was struck and killed early Tuesday by a big rig.
Authorities responded to calls of a man in lanes on the southbound 710 Freeway in Compton early Tuesday, according to California Highway Patrol. Emergency responders answered a call at 2:45 a.m. of a body in the right lanes.
Firefighters pronounced the man dead at the scene.
A SigAlert was in effect shutting down two right lanes of traffic as police investigated the pedestrian death. The SigAlert was canceled and lanes reopened around 5:40 a.m.
