Officers at the scene of a crash that killed a man Tuesday June 11, 2013 in Burbank.

A man who was changing his shoes behind his minivan Tuesday morning was struck and killed by the driver of another car who crashed into his parked vehicle.

The deadly crash occurred in the 3000 block of Clybourn Avenue near Bob Hope Airport in Burbank. The victim was behind the vehicle, parked next to a curb on Clybourn Avenue, when he was pinned between the minivan and an oncoming Ford Focus.

"The driver drifted off to the side, colliding with the parked vehicle and squeezing the pedestrian between the two cars," said Detective Bill Bustos, of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was identified Wednesday as 36-year-old Walter Santos.

Aerial video showed officers taking a male and female -- the driver and passenger in the Ford Focus -- into custody after the crash, which investigators determined was a hit-and-run case. The driver, identified as Patrick Sage, 22, was booked on suspicion of felony manslaughter.

He is accused of striking Santos and a second pedestrian, who was injured. Details regarding the injured victim's condition were not immediately available.

Sage allegedly attempted to leave the site of the crash, but witnesses stopped him, according to police.

    Bond was set at $100,000.

Santos was changing into his work boots behind his Nissan Quest when the Focus driver, traveling north on Clybourn Avenue, collided with the parked minivan, Bustos said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the man's work boots was on a sidewalk near the crash site.
