Pedestrian Killed After Hit-and-Run Collision in Van Nuys

Police were offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Police were searching for a hit-and-run driver that killed a pedestrian Friday night in Van Nuys, authorities said.

The accident was reported just before midnight near the intersection of Haskell Avenue and Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim was a 33-year-old man who was walking outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.

Paramedics arrived and tried to revive the man but he died at the scene, according to the LAPD.

Police described the hit-and-run vehicle as a late-model, white two or four-door sedan. The car sustained some front end damage and a smashed windshield.

The car was last seen traveling westbound on Vanowen Street.

Investigators were collecting remnants of the crash to help them determine the exact make and model of the vehicle.

Police said there is a $50,000 reward for information leading up to an arrest in the hit-and-run case.
