The man may have gotten stuck between the closed arms of the crossing, officials say

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metro Gold Line train in South Pasadena Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The pedestrian, 40- to 50-year-old man, was struck at the Monterey Road and Pasadena Avenue crosswalk in South Pasadena just after 4 p.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Sergio Flores of the Transit Services Bureau.

Officials do not believe the death was a suicide, and the man may have gotten stuck inside the closed arms area of the crossing, Flores said.
