Female Pedestrian Struck, Killed on 110 Freeway

A female pedestrian was killed on the 110 Freeway in the South Los Angeles area early Sunday after attempting to cross lanes when her vehicle broke down on the side of the road.

Officers responded around 4:30 a.m. to reports of two people walking across the southbound side of the freeway near Century Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol Officer Nacke.

Officers found a man that said he and a female passenger tried to cross the roadway when she was struck by oncoming traffic, officials said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.

Traffic was slowing to about 20 miles per hour at Century, according to SigAlert.
