Man Detained in Fatal Stabbing at Tea House in Garden Grove

Police do not know if the stabbing was random or if the 20-year-old had a connection to the business

A 20-year-old man was detained in connection with a fatal stabbing at a tea house in Garden Grove Friday, police said.

The incident happened just after 11 a.m. at the Volcano Tea House at 10130 Garden Grove Blvd., where officers responded to a suspicious circumstances call, police said.

Robert Rogers, 20, was detained in connection with the incident, but officials do not know if the stabbing was random or if he had a connection to the business.

Police said a female employee arrived to open the tea house for the day, and spotted a man already inside, who wanted her to enter the establishment as well. She instead locked the store from the outside and called police, officials said.

Upon arrival, police found a man dead in the back. Police believe he was part of an early morning cleaning crew.

Detectives hope surveillance cameras will help answer their questions.
