Police Investigate Deadly Shooting in East Los Angeles

Deputies found a man lying in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives were investigating the shooting death of a 19-year-old man in East Los Angeles on Sunday.

The man was identified as Ernesto Cervantes of Los Angeles, according to the coroner's office.

Deputies responded to the 200 block of North Alma Ave to investigate a report of gunshots at 3:28 a.m.

When they arrived they found a man lying in the middle of the street suffering from gunshot wounds. 

Paramedics treated the man but he died of his wounds at the scene.

Police said that witnesses had seen the man outside of a large party, talking to a group.

The group was telling the man to leave when he was shot.
