Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Followed Women Home, Robber Them in South Los Angeles

Police arrested a man they believe robbed a 67-year-old woman after following her home from a bank in South Los Angeles nearly one month ago.

Dewayne Allen Taylor, 37, was arrested in connection with the Oct. 1 incident that was caught on camera at Union Bank near West Jefferson and Crenshaw boulevards, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

After surveying possible victims, Taylor allegedly followed the elderly woman to her home. Police said he waited for the woman to get out her car, greeted her as he passed by, then quickly turned around and pushed the victim to the ground and took her purse.

"I turned and he was already on my back. He said, 'This is a robbery,' then we start forcing for my purse," the victim told NBC4.

Before arresting Taylor, police said they believed the suspect could be connected to another strong-armed robbery less than a week prior to the Oct. 1 incident.

Taylor was arrested in the 1500 block of 48th Place and booked on a robbery charge. Detectives believe there are additional victims and were asking for the public's help in identifying them.
