Boy Killed, Man Injured in Shooting Near Inglewood

"A lot of bullets" were fired when an assailant walked up to the pair shortly after midnight Sunday

A 15-year-old boy was killed and a man injured after an assailant walked up and shot them both shortly after midnight Sunday near Inglewood, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The two were shot as they walked south on Vermont Avenue near 95th Street in an unincorporated part of Los Angeles County, Sgt. Shawn Shaw said.

The two were caught in "a lot of bullets," Shaw said.

Both were taken to a hospital, said Deputy Irys Alvarez, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department. She did not specify which hospital.
