Man Arrested After Barricade, Chase in San Fernando Valley

Three armed robbery suspects led police on a chase Friday night through the San Fernando Valley and into Santa Clarita.

The erratic driver behind the vehicle had several close calls with other motorists, nearly crashing into them on multiple occasions.

Two of the armed robbers quickly surrendered to authorities when the pursuit ended. Officers were searching for the third suspect at an apartment complex in the area of Via Canon and Valle del Oro near Newhall Avenue, where the 10-minute chase ended about 8 p.m., according to Los Angeles police Officer Sal Ramirez.

The last robber barricaded himself in his aparment, often appearing at the window holding a toddler, before surrendering to police.

The chase began in the 8000 block of Foothill Boulevard in Sunland, Ramirez said. One of the robberies took place at a cellphone store, he said.
