Suspect Arrested After Pursuit, Crash in Double Homicide Inside Corona Home

Residents were relieved but stunned after a murder suspect was caught following a brief chase in Corona Friday.

A 22-year-old allegedly killed his father and another man, and seriously injured another, in their home.

Officers were actively searching for Brandon Willie Martin, a former minor league baseball player for the Bowling Green Hot Rods, following the murder Thursday evening.

An off-duty officer spotted Martin driving in a truck that belonged to one of the victims and began pursuing him.

Martin crashed into the patrol car and then ran into a resident’s house where a woman was inside showering, according to Corona Police.

Martin made eye contact with an officer and then leapt out of the second story window before police captured him.

Brandon’s father, 64-year-old Michael Martin, was found dead along with and Barry Swanson, 62, on the 1000 block of Winthrop Drive Thursday night.

Ricky Lee Anderson, 51, was also found inside the house with life-threatening injuries.

Police warned residents to lock their doors and report suspicious activity Friday morning as they continued the search.

Melissa Perez, a neighbor and friend of the victims, told NBC4 that one of the men was an ADT worker.

“It’s just kind of tragic that it’s happening in such a quiet neighborhood,” Perez said.

Residents also said they knew the suspect, and were shocked to hear that a man with such a bright future was accused of the crime.
