Body Found in Beverly Grove; Investigation in Progress

    LAPD detectives are investigating the death of a man in his 40s, found fatally shot at a home in the Fairfax District.     A dead body was discovered near Beverly Boulevard and Crescent Heights, and a homicide investigation is now in progress.

    About a dozen officers were at a home in the 300 block of Laurel Avenue on Thursday. Some officers were going door to door questioning neighbors.

    Police would not release details about the investigation, although they did confirm a dead male body had been found.

    Neighbors told NBC4 that around 2 a.m., they heard a noise that sounded like a gunshot. Most witnesses dismissed it as Halloween-related sounds.

    "We just thought, 'oh it was just some crazy Halloween antics or something,'" said one neighbor.
