Police Seek Two Thieves Who Stole Girl's Purse

The 8-year-old girl set her purse on a bench and the thieves snatched it

    Thieves stole a girl's purse from a Ventura Laundromat and police were asking anyone with information about the July 23, 2014 incident to contact them.

    The two young girls of an officer who responded to the theft of an 8-year-old girl's coin purse at a Ventura Laundromat last month offered their Hello Kitty purses to her, the Ventura Police Department said.

    The girl set her coin purse full of quarters on a nearby bench and when she wasn't looking, two theives took it and disappeared, police said.

    Officer Frank Padilla told his family about the incident and his daughters offered one of their purses to the victim.

    Padilla went with his wife to meet the girl and her family Wednesday, to deliver the purse as well as $14 the girl lost.

    The thieves were described as a female with a male companion.

    Police are asking anyone with information about the theft to call Officer Padilla at 805-339-4400.
