A reckless driver led police on a dangerous high-speed pursuit in rush hour traffic Wednesday, crossing into opposite lanes and nearly hitting pedestrians in a crosswalk before he was boxed in by officers in a Glendale cul-de-sac and taken into custody.
The chase of the white Toyota began in Eagle Rock about 5:40 p.m. when officers tried to pull the driver over for a felony warrant, Los Angeles Police Department officials said.
The driver took off, weaving through traffic on surface streets, while apparently talking on a cellphone.
At one point, the driver got stuck in traffic on a freeway transition road and drove off-road to an adjacent ramp.
A short time later, the man drove into a cul-de-sac in Glendale, where he surrendered.
