Pursuit Shuts Down SoCal Freeway

A Southern California freeway was shut down Tuesday afternoon after police arrested a man who bailed out of his car onto the highway after a pursuit.

CHP officers attempted to pull the 2002 silver BMW over Tuesday at about 4 p.m. According to investigators, the driver refused to stop and continued driving on the interstate before coming to a halt about eight minutes later.

The man then ran onto the freeway, leading both southbound and northbound lanes to be closed.

CHP Officer Kerri Rivas said officers used a stun gun to detain the man. No information was immediately available on potential charges.

The interstate was reopened by about 4:20 p.m. and did not appear to have a major impact on traffic.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
