Police Pursuit Ends on 118 Freeway

Oct. 30, 2012: Police surround a vehicle on the eastbound 118 Freeway in the Pacoima area.

An armed man wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon led police on a pursuit through the San Fernando Valley before pulling over and surrendering to authorities near the 5 and 118 freeway interchange.

The pursuit started around 9:30 a.m. in the 6300 block of Colfax Avenue in North Hollywood and lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.

It ended on the 118 Freeway in the Pacoima area. The driver pulled over his vehicle and lay down on the ground.

The eastbound 118 Freeway was closed as officers took the man into custody.

Aerial video showed the man smoking a cigarette while waiting to be taken into custody. He was handcuffed shortly before 10 a.m.

The man was believed to be armed with a gun.
