A driver of a Mercedes-Benz was taken into custody after leading police on a brief chase in Orange County on Monday.
The driver weaved his way through late afternoon traffic on the southbound 55 and 5 freeways before exiting in the Irvine area.
As the car slowly rolled to a stop on a surface street, the door swung open and the driver came out with his hands up, dropping an object next to the car.
Officers ordered the driver to crawl to them before taking him into custody without incident.
No one else was inside the car.
