Police Release Sketch of Man in Attempted Kidnapping in Santa Monica

Police released a composite sketch Monday after the attempted kidnapping of a woman in a Santa Monica parking garage.

On July 9, a woman was walking to her car parked in the parking garage of the AO Santa Monica Apartments on 2200 Colorado Ave. around 5:45 p.m. when she was assaulted by a man. She was able to fight him off her and he ran away.

The attacker was described as a white man in his late 30s to early 40s, 5 foot 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black shirt, black baggy pants, a baseball cap, black sunglasses and a black backpack.

The victim said his face was thin, and that he had a "pointy" chin and nose.

Police urge residents to pay extra attention to their surroundings in and around their cars and parking garages.

Anyone with information was asked to call Santa Monica police.
