Police Seek Victims of Man Accused of Indecent Exposure at High School

The man allegedly parked outside two Santa Ana schools and exposed himself to "high-school aged" girls, police say

Authorities in Orange County are asking for the public's help to find victims of a man accused of exposing himself to children outside schools.

Carlos Sanchez Hernandez, 42, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts each of indecent exposure and child annoyance for allegedly masturbating in a van near two Santa Ana schools while making eye contact with female students, Santa Ana police said in a statement. The white van was reported on St. Andrew Street between Godinez Fundamental High School and Carr Intermediate School, on March 3 and June 4, police said.

"We believe there are additional victims out there," Santa Ana Police Lt. Anthony Bertagna said.

Hernandez might have exposed himself to up to 10 other people, police said. He allegedly stopped near the Santa Ana schools on his way to work in Huntington Beach from his home in Garden Grove, Bertagna said.

Santa Ana police will look for potential additional victims in all three cities, Bertagna said.

Hernandez was being held on $50,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. It was not immediately clear whether Hernandez had obtained an attorney.

The Santa Ana Police Department encourages anyone with information about the case or a potential victim to call SAPD Detective Dave Yettaw at 714-245-8432 or Supervising District Attorney Investigator Carlos Field at 714-834-5469.
