Police: Sgt. Used Database to Look Up Women

Westminster police say they will fire a sergeant accused of using law enforcement databases to stalk his ex-girlfriends and investigate his romantic rivals.

Police officials said Thursday that Sgt. Bill Arganda was placed on leave in May after an alleged domestic violence incident.

"There are two sides to every story," Arganda told the Orange County Register on Thursday.

Officials say an internal investigation found that Arganda used a system that connects to DMV and law enforcement databases to look up thousands of names and license plates for his personal use.

Officials say Arganda searched for his ex-wife, ex-girlfriends and the new men in their lives, and women he met at his child's school and a gym.

Arganda has received a termination notice and the case has been sent to prosecutors for review.
