Police Warn of Car Burglars Along Pacific Coast Highway

On what's expected to be a busy Fourth of July weekend at the beach, police are warning visitors to hold on to their car keys when they park their cars.

There has been a surge of car-related thefts along Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades between Sunset Boulevard and Temescal Canyon Road, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Investigators say criminals are watching people hide their keys outside their cars, like in the wheel well, and then use the keys to access the car and steal belongings and even the car itself.

One woman police said is connected to car thefts at the beach was caught on camera using a stolen credit card at Target.
