The Los Angeles Police Department pursued a DUI suspect from the San Fernando Valley to the coast and back.
Gil Leyvas and Newschopper4 Bravo were overhead at approximately 9:35 p.m. Sunday with the vehicle heading westbound on the 101 Freeway, shortly after switching over from the 405 Freeway southbound.
LAPD North Hollywood officers said the driver was a female, and the driver was believed to be suicidal. Officer seemed to follow from a distance for the majority of the pursuit.
After exiting the 101 Freeway on Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas, the driver drove into Malibu on winding Mulholland Highway. After eventually popping out on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, the driver occasionally broke rules by driving in the middle of the road to pass vehicles and speeding, but law enforcement continued to follow at a lengthy distance.
For the majority of the pursuit, the driver seemed in control of the vehicle.
On PCH, the driver continued south past the Santa Monica Incline and moved onto the 10 Freeway. At approximately 10:30 p.m., the woman took the 405 Freeway northbound as she headed back toward the San Fernando Valley, where the chase originated.
At 10:45 p.m., the driver took the White Oak Avenue exit off the 101 Freeway and went back onto streets. After a couple minutes, the suspect pulled a U-turn and got back on the 101 Freeway. Law enforcement kept its distance for the most part and occasionally even drove past the vehicle.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., NBC4 pulled off the pursuit. At that point, the CHP seemed to stop pursuing the vehicle. The vehicle was on the 14 Freeway, and the CHP had been in contact with the family of the driver, according to Leyvas in Newschopper4 Bravo.
It was not immediately clear if a different law enforcement agency was overtaking the pursuit.
