Police closed the northbound 101 Freeway in the Studio City area Wednesday afternoon after pulling over a possible murder suspect in the middle of lanes, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
A man and a woman were taken into custody, splayed out like starfish on freeway lanes at 6:50 p.m. near the Coldwater Canyon exit.
Earlier, police said they were following two vehicles in the Burbank area.
Another car was stopped on the 170 Freeway at Oxnard Street, but it wasn't clear how the other vehicle was involved.
Traffic appeared to be moving smoothly at 8:40 p.m.
LAPD officials said they recovered a gun that was thrown from the car before the driver pulled over.
The two had not yet been booked on any charges and were being interviewed by police, the LAPD said.
