A man killed in an accident when a power pole toppled over was identified Monday as a 45-year-old Los Angeles man.

German Andrade was standing on the corner of Western Avenue and Pico Boulevard when a 2008 Dodge Caliber crashed into a traffic signal around 3:15 a.m. Sunday, said a spokesman for the coroner's office.

The car, allegedly driven by 27-year-old Jasen Jack, knocked over the pole, which fell onto Andrade, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Jack may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash, police said. He is being held in lieu of $110,000 bail and is expected to appear in court Tuesday.

Anyone with information regarding the accident was asked to call LAPD West Traffic Detective Stephanie Banks at 213-485-4022 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.
