Preliminary 2.9-Magnitude Quake Strikes Big Bear Lake Area

A preliminary magnitude-2.9 earthquake struck the Big Bear Lake area late Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The shallow temblor hit at 4:28 p.m. about 8 miles east of the city, at a depth of a little more than a mile, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damages.
