Preliminary 3.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Cabazon Area

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.5 shook the desert town of Cabazon on Monday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The temblor struck at 2:02 p.m. five miles northeast of the Riverside County town, at a depth of nearly 6 miles, the USGS reported.

Cabazon is located about 17 miles northwest of Palm Springs.
