Preliminary Magnitude 3.2 Earthquake Shakes Cherry Valley

A magnitude-3.2 earthquake struck 4.4 miles northwest of Banning at 9:39 p.m. tonight, but no damage or injuries were immediately reported.

The earthquake's depth was five kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

Police in Banning said they felt the quake at headquarters, but had received no reports of injuries or damage.
