President Obama Visit: Friday Road Closures

Obama will designate the San Gabriel Mountains as a National Monument on Friday

Police continue to advise motorists of a series of road closures on Friday, as President Barack Obama is set to cap off his two-day visit to the city with a trip to the San Gabriel Mountains.

Obama plans to designate the mountains as a National Monument.

Here are the areas LAPD officials say motorists should avoid on Friday:

Avoid the following areas between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.:

  • Area around Wilshire Boulevard between Veteran Avenue and Comstock Avenue
  • Area around Beverly Glen Boulevard between Ashton Avenue and Bellagio Road

Avoid the following areas between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.:

  • Area around Sunset Boulevard between Hilgard Avenue and Carolwood Drive
  • Area around Beverly Glen between Bellagio Road and Pico Boulevard
  • Area around Pico Boulevard between Prosser Avenue and Century Park East

Police say they will continue a closure along Hilgard Avenue between Le Conte Avenue and Weyburn Avenue until 6 p.m. Friday.

The Metro bus orange line route 302/2 on Hilgard Avenue between Le Conte Avenue and Weyburn Avenue will also be canceled until 4 p.m. Friday.

Air Force One will fly out of LAX Friday, headed next to San Francisco.
