A Los Angeles priest is turning Skid Row green on St. Patrick's Day.

The Rev. Maurice Chase handed out money Tuesday to the neighborhood's residents. Chase, who turned 90 this month, planned to hand out $15,000.

Father "Dollar Bill" has handed out money at the Fred Jordan Mission for the past 24 years.

"Somebody asked me, 'What are you going to do on your birthday?'" said Chase. "I said, 'Well, I'm going to be among my flock.' This is a bigger flock than I usually had.

"I'm happy to be here. I come down here because Jesus prompts me to take care of the poor and the homeless. I just love it."

Chase is a former assistant to the president at Loyola Marymount University. About 300 people were outside the mission Tuesday morning, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
