Pursuit Driver Crashes, Killing 1 in Culver City

The driver of the stolen vehicle ran a red light and hit another car, killing the driver and seriously injuring his 8-year-old son.

One person was killed Saturday morning after a pursuit driver crashed into another car in Culver City, police said.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle with no license plate around 11 a.m. Saturday in Culver City. The car failed to yield and a short pursuit began.

In an attempt to elude officers, the stolen vehicle driver ran a red light and T-boned another vehicle at Washington Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard. The driver of the second car died at the scene, according to the Culver City Police Department.

The man killed has yet to be identified. His 8-year-old son was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a female juvenile, and three others inside the car fled the crash scene on foot.

Surveillance video from a nearby gas station shows one of the suspects run into the bathroom to try to hide from officers.

Police quickly took the four into custody and transported them to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash also forced a stretch of Washington Boulevard to shut down.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal collision for transparency purposes.
